Ukrop's Kitchen is celebrating its 20th anniversary and we're celebrating all month long! To start the merrymaking, we thought it would be fun to look back at Ukrop's Kitchen as it evolved into the multifaceted food destination it is today.

Chicken Cobbler was one of the first 10 items Ukrop's Kitchen launched in 1989.
In the late 1980s, the foodies at Ukrop's realized our shoppers were starved for time and needed some good, old-fashioned, home-cooked meals that were made with love for them to heat and enjoy. Thus, in 1989, Ukrop's launched a chilled prepared foods line that could be heated in the microwave or oven in no time at all. The original menu consisted of ten items that were available in four stores. Today, our chilled prepared foods are shipped to every store daily and span hundreds of items, including entrees, sides and desserts. Over time, the selection also grew to include prepackaged sandwiches, salads and our signature Holiday Meals.
After almost ten solid years of selling chilled prepared foods, we decided to add something fancier and fresher to the lineup: Chef's Specials. Only available in select stores, the Chef's Specials case is filled with delicious dishes made fresh in each location. You'll find mouthwatering choices for an elegant dinner such as our jumbo lump crab cakes, along with simple pasta salads that are perfect for entertaining.
Our most recent innovation came this past year in the form of Ukrop's Bakes. The Ukrop's culinary team decided we needed a way to provide our shoppers with heat-and-eat entrees, side dishes and desserts that could feed an entire family. Ukrop's Bakes were designed to feed four to six and are available in simple favorites like baked spaghetti as well as more elegant dishes like pasta primavera.
We'll be launching new Ukrop's Bakes and Chef's Specials items that incorporate the best flavors of fall all month long. There's always something new cooking in Ukrop's Kitchen!
