These addictive nuts are an ideal item to keep on hand throughout the holiday season. They’re perfect for guests to munch on before Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, but you can also add them to salads for a festive hint of flavor; sprinkle them on sweet potatoes or even wrap them in a pretty bag in a pinch and bring them to a party as a hostess gift.

Sweet & Spicy Candied Pecans

Yield: 2 1/2 cups pecans | Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 30 minutes

2 1/2 cups raw Food Club pecans
1 large egg white, lightly beaten

1/4 cup sugar (we used Sugar in the Raw for a more crystallized effect)

2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp allspice
½ tsp. cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 300F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, stir together pecans and egg white until pecans are evenly coated. In a small bowl, stir together the sugar, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper and salt. Pour over the nuts and stir until evenly coated. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes, checking regularly to ensure nuts aren’t burning. Once nuts are toasted, remove from oven and allow to cool. Break nuts into a bowl to serve or store at room temperature in an airtight container.
