Thanks to everyone who shared a homemade holiday gift idea with us. We've selected 5 finalists for our contest. The winner will be announced later today. The finalists are:
Debbie Craft: Chocolate Cakes baked in mason jars! I have an easy recipe that makes 8 pint size cakes at a time. Decorate the top with fabric, tag, and bow. Makes a great gift for friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Very easy and inexpensive and a gift made with love.
M. E. Edwards: My favorite gift is home-made caramel corn. It's something almost no one makes for themselves, but everyone loves to receive! Put the caramel corn in clear or tinted plastic bags and tie with festive ribbon. I often attach a recipe card even though I know none of my friends will ever make it, they just wait on my gift next Christmas.
Tiffany: I like to collect soup ingredients, and put them in apothecary jars with the recipe on the back of the gift tag...all your gift receiver needs is water! It's the perfect gift for winter!
APRIL GREER: I made refrigerator scissor holders one year for my family out of pot holders and scissors from the dollar tree. All you do is fold the pot holder into a cone shape, put a stitch in it with needle and thread to hold it in place - add a cute button if you like - and hot glue a magnet on the back. Add the scissors and VIOLA!! You would not believe what a huge hit these were in my family!...and now everyone has something useful AND homemade! They will never need to look for the scissors again!
Becky Helms: My favorite homemade holiday gift idea is making infused olive oils. You can get olive oil bottles with spouts from the dollar store, fill them with peeled garlic cloves, peppercorns, rosemary sprigs, etc. - whatever you like! Then pour in the olive oil! Tie some cute ribbons around the neck of the bottle or put into a wine tote. Buy some fresh, warm bread and give them both together!
